On Winners and Losers
IT’S OVER! We have a President Elect for this great nation! Congratulations to President Elect Donald J. Trump!
Elections—whether for the high school homecoming king and queen, local school board members, or the president of the United States of America—can be rough. And, not always satisfying to the electors. But, one thing is for sure—there’s usually a winner and a loser.
In this 2024 presidential election just completed, I listened to both the winner’s acceptance speech by President Elect Trump, and the concession of loss by Vice President Kamala Harris.
I could not help but have sympathy for Vice President Harris as she conceded the election. Most of us who have been in a loser’s position would have that empathy. Being the winner is easy. Being the loser . . . that’s where no one wants to be.
I rejoiced with Mr. Trump as he thanked all who worked so hard during the campaign: his family, the campaign committee, and all the supporters who cast their vote for him in his landslide victory this week.
Once again, President Elect Trump spoke of how God spared his life in the two assassination attempts . . . and the belief that he is still here for a reason. He has a point.
The Bible states clearly (Romans 13:1), that it is Almighty God who places people in authority. Believing and accepting this fact will make the pathway ahead much easier for both winners and losers.
Let us pray for both President Elect Trump and Vice President Harris. And let us give thanks to Almighty God, who holds us all in his mighty hand.
Grace and peace to you,
Mary Emma
